Christmas 2017 has come and gone, and for the folks at St. Nicks Christmas and Collectibles, a sprawling Christmas decoration shop at 5221 S. Santa Fe Drive, that means it's time to take down oodles of ornaments and miles of garland — and start planning for next year.
“I miss it all year, until it's time to come back,” said seasonal employee Teri Stouder, who was packing up ornaments on the last day of her 10th season at St. Nicks. “It's like a family reunion every year.”
There weren't any particular new fads or trends in 2017, said manager Chris Davis. “Just more people and more volume.”
Clint Siderius, one of a handful of full-timers, said he hasn't tired of Christmas after six years in the business.
“We all try to tune out the Christmas music after a while, though,” Siderius said. “Although inevitably we catch ourselves singing it.”
St. Nicks will close for the season on Jan. 7, and reopen in March.
