Letter: Parkway still problematic

The recent article on the Jefferson Parkway does a good job of presenting the arguments for the JP, but not as much for the opposition.  As Dan Hartman said, it "is a bad project that will not succeed in reducing congestion and as a tolled road, is not [financially] viable."  There are many reasons, all given in detail to the JPPHA, that the project is not needed to improve mobility in North Jeffco; improvements to existing free highways will do that better and at lower cost.  CDOT and DRCOG have said that the project will receive no state or federal funds; the meeting provided no information on costs or sources and amounts of funding.  The project is not wanted by neighboring communities because of increased noise and air pollution, especially Leyden Rock that would not be served because planned interchanges are not convenient to their neighborhood.

Dick Sugg,

Golden
