The annual HOOTenanny Festival at Audubon Nature Center — located at 11280 Waterton Road southwest of Littleton — extends to five days this year, culminating in the only Owl and Music Festival in Colorado from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 21. A variety of nocturnal hikes and craft activities in the Lois Webster Amphitheatre allow the visitor to become better acquainted with mainly nocturnal owls, starting Sept. 17. Partnering organizations, such as those who rehabilitate injured raptors, will participate, providing an up-close and personal encounter. Local folk music is also involved.
